I think you all missed a point here ......
Even though it was supposedly humour ( which I see noone understands)
There are people ( esp students) for whom the direct cost is the one
that hurts most. a student cannot easily fork out 500 to 1000 rupees.
whereas a phone bill is not only something which comes in installments
but also cannot be easily separated into internet and voice charges.
So I reiterate that if someone else ( not necessarily father :) ) pays
your phone bills then definitely go for caltiger.
And if you want to see caltiger on linux then please give caltiger
feedback.I believe they themselves were interested in this , however
there are quite a few technical problems in implementing an adbar for
linux.
However if the demand grows then they might consider it.
Still the problems I had mentioned in an earlier mail will still be
there
how to ensure that the adbar remains visible
which breaks down to
1) how to prevent commandline browsing
2) how to prevent killing of the adbar process
3) how to ensure that the adbar remains docked at the top of x no matter
what the window manager
4) how to display the adbar content...
Any general discussion/flames Should be shifted to LIG
Any technical discussion to LIP
The rest can stay here.
p.s I believe that paying customers of caltiger are still able to
connect under linux.But I can't confirm this.
