Actually, all of those are spell checkers.

Look at http://www.dict.org/  The dict protocol is an open way of
connecting to a dictionary server and looking up the meaning of words. 
Here are some applications that use the dict protocol:

1. The dict website had the dictd (dictionary server) and dict (dictionary
client) available for download.  The dict client is a versatile command
line tool to look up the meaning of words either from the internet or from
a server running on your local machine.

2. gdict.  This is a graphical application (requires gtk libraries to be
installed) that is equivalent to the dict client.

3. gaspell.  The graphical gtk-based aspell spell checker with dict
support.  A very nice application, even though I say so myself [1].
