SVR,
I am forwarding your query to the linux-india-help mailing list. It is
more likely that you would be able to get an answer here.
Do you remember the partition number on which Linux was installed? It
should be something like /dev/hda2 or something.
When you installed Linux, you should have also installed a program called
LILO which is a boot manager. My guess is that LILO has not been installed
or configured right. You don't have to reinstall from scratch. If you
still have the rescue disk that the installation process creates, you can
boot from the floppy, edit lilo's config file and reboot.

hi,
we partitioned the 4 gb hard drive into two drives and loaded dos, windows,
office 97onto one and linux on the other. when we first loaded the windows
etc. part, the screen was showing nice. but when we loaded linux, closed
the machine and started again, the screen rolls with 101010101010
endlessly.
can someone tell me as to where we went wrong? as i am not a technical
person, try to be as non technnical in your observations as possible.
the monitor used is a samtel 15" one. when we were setting up the linux,
this monitor was not in the listed once, hence we try to set it up as close
to the options as possible under the custom mode. would this be the reason
for the problem?
thanks in advance,
svr rao
