Hi,
Yeah, you can do exactly what you want. Fortunately you have 6
HOWTOs to help you and (un)fortunately you have to read all of them. Some
directories like /var /etc /tmp will be unique for each machine (you might
also try ramdisk for these), some like /home /usr /usr/local will probably
be via NFS, and others will be under a common root directory (/ ) also via
nfs. It is good to start by putting NFS, DNS and DHCP on the server (while
you read the HOWTOs). You'll also need all your kernel compilation skills
and you'll be able to practice rdev on it. It takes approx 22MB shared
with another 6MB/node disk space. I prefer SuSE because of a "install to
directory" feature but probably the scripts given in the HOWTOs are a
better option. You'll also need the etherboot or netboot packages to
make your rom images/floppies (I used netboot). The HOWTOs to read are:
Diskless
Diskless-root-NFS
Thinclient
NFS-Root-Client (mini)
NFS-Root (mini)
Remote-boot (mini)
(maybe you can skip some sections if you're in a hurry!-)
