Only by configuring the port in squid.conf will not be enough for squid 
proxy. To configure the squid properly you must un comment the cacheroot 
path /size etc. options. And to get worked with squid thru ipchains you 
must configure squid as transparent proxy by configuring httpd-accel etc. 
option. Just go thoroughly with squid.conf and www.squid.org.
