hello,
My mother board came with a VIA VT82C686 sound card inbuilt. Its a pci
card. Running sndconfig detects it alright and puts the following lines
alias sound-slot-o via686cxxx.o
option support sb=1
in conf.modules.
So next time i boot the modules sound, soundcore, sb, uart401, via... are
loaded perfectly. Till before yesterday i used to think the sound card was
not working. But then I set
aumix -v100
jacked the sound card output to my music box with FULL mic mix level and
full volume ( almost ). When i piped samples.au to /dev/audio I could
barely make out the semblance of The voice through the terrible now HUGELY
amplified hiss.
Can anybody help.
Some points
1. In BIOS load setup defaults assigns IRQ5 to the card.
2. in /proc/interrupts also the same IRQ is used. No IRQ clashes...also,
neither any clash with dma
3. But on doing lspci the output says IRQ for the sound chip should be 11
4. On windows it shows up as 2 devices one called sound using IRQ5 and
another called sound device using IRQ11
sreangsu
p.s. In case i have to force it to use IRQ11 please ellucidate the syntax,
i could not make much from man conf.modules
