Hello Alpha,
Welcome to the Linux community.
To install the basic stand alone version just boot from the CDROM and follow
the instructions till you reach the point where you have to specify what
all groups you want to install. select whatever you want. then it will ask
if you want to specify individual progs. yes to this question. specify
whatever progs u want to install. do not deinstall any thing that the script
has selected for u. install. specify the monitor and display card specs and
u r on.
it may take you a few trials but u cant go wrong for a long time.
