As i have mentioned in the mail.
The same setup i'm having now was running perfectly, from last 10 Months.
This problem has occured from just two days...!!!
is it still the problem with identd server ??
Even today, it works fast sometimes, but at times it again goes slow...

does the client from which you are trying to access the server registered in
the /etc/hosts of the server ?
otherwise the identd will take a long time.. finally time out.. but by then
the server {POP} / client may time out as well..
