I don't know how to do it without hacking. If you have access to the code
try the following. Download my dnacgr program from my site (it's very
small). Open the dnacgr.c. There's a small piece of contributed code in
that. Take it out and modify it and put it in your program source at the
appropriate place. It saves to PNG. It's made for svgalib but should work
for other graphic libs too.
Basically you have to decide on the bpp of your picture and save the
appropriate color table to a file. Also you have to save the screen memory
dump. Then you need to recreate the bitmap image by something like a short
program.
I hunted a lot for some utility to grab console screen some time back
without results, and had to do my own thing.
