gicq is now called gnomeicq and works beautifully.. even docks in the
gnome taskbar.. there is kicq if you use KDE (works under gnome too, of
course).. Mirabilis has a Java versions but its horrible though it
work.. there is also everybuddy that support ICQ, MSN, Yahoo and AOL...
all in one interface... goto everybuddy.com

automount and supermount are solutions for doing just this
intelligently... I don't use it, but someone else on the list can give
more info...
