OK.. two things to do. One is - please upgrade your kernel to 2.2.16-3
which is available on the PCQ August CD or on the RedHat ftp site.
Second - if you can't get it working, please give us the actual error
message. To get a whole log - do "startx &> temp.log" and then paste
the *relevant* parts from that file, not the whole thing.
