Hi
I want to partition my Hdd to get some space for installing SUSE.
My Hdd presently has the following partitions
Disk /dev/hda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 2096 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 4 524 4184901 b Win95 FAT32
/dev/hda2 525 2096 12627090 f Win95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/hda3 1 3 24066 83 Linux
/dev/hda5 525 1043 4168836 b Win95 FAT32
/dev/hda6 1044 1562 4168836 b Win95 FAT32
/dev/hda7 1563 1578 128488+ 82 Linux swap
/dev/hda8 1579 2096 4160803+ 83 Linux
I want to decrease the size of hda6 to 2.5 GB. The rest I want to use to
install SUSE
I do not want to destroy the data which is there in hda6. I know that
partition magic would do the job - but partition magic 3.0 which I have
does not support such large Hdd. It gives an error - partition table not found.
I thought of trying fips - but fips does not change partitions in extended
partition.
Can anyone guide me as to what to do - how to reduce my hda6 partition
without destroying data.
Presntly i m using RED HAT 6.2. If i install SUSE will it replace my kernel
in the /boot partition ? If yes how can I prevent this and also make both
SUSE & RH work.
Thanks in advance
