Hi,

enable booting from CD in your bios setup (you probably have to hit del or
F1 to get into bios setup). Insert the CD, save and exit. If you have two
networked Linux PCs here is a work around to installing Linux without
burning CDs.

Download the iso image from www.linuxiso.org or wherever. mount it as:
mount -t iso9660 -o loop <iso image> <mount point>

now get into the directory and make boot floppies (network boot via ftp).
Make sure some ftp server (proftpd is good) is running. Boot your
to-be-linux-box using the boot floppies and log into the machine with the
CD image by ftp. The installation should be normal from this point.

If you don't have a CD writer but do have a Linux PC this might be a good
way to install Linux on another machine.

Best wishes,
Indraneel
