The problem is not with all urls, only the ones having a hyphen in
them. I have traced the problem to a an error in /usr/bin/netscape. The
line 70 says:
[ $# -gt 0 ] && url=`echo $@ | sed 's/-[^ ]*//g; s/\( | \)*//'`
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
If u examine carefully, it says to remove all the matter in
commandline after a hyphen upto next space. Thus giving the command
netscape http://www.linux-mandrake.com/ will be reduced to
netscape http://www.linux
The redhat guys have it straight. The same line on a RH6.2 (line
69 in this case) reads
[ $# -gt 0 ] && url=`echo $@ | sed 's/\ -[^ ]*//g; s/\( | \)*//'`
^^
Note the "\ " before the hypen in this expression. Thus it removes
only the commandline options if any, and does not break the url if if
contains the hyphen.
I have tested and found that this problem is present in both 4.73
and 4.75 versions of netscape-mandrake. Don't know about other versions.
Bye...
PS: Do u use the mandrake netscape rpm or the rpm provided by redhat?
