Change the line for localhost in /etc/hosts file as follows :

127.0.0.1       localhost.localdomain   localhost

If you have a Network Card then put your IP and hostname in the following format :

<IP> <hostname.domain name> <hostname>

[ of course don't put <> signs above  :-) ]
