I am trying to configure samba on RH6.2 . When I try to start the smb daemon
, "ps -ef " shows nmbd -D but smbd doesn't start .The log file in
/var/log/samba/log.smb has the foll entry :
[2000/09/27 17:29:04, 1] smbd/server.c:main(643)
smbd version 2.0.6 started.

[2000/09/27 17:29:05, 0] lib/util_sock.c:open_socket_in(853)
bind failed on port 139 socket_addr=0.0.0.0 (Address already in use)
The relevant enries in /etc/services are
netbios-ssn 139/tcp # NETBIOS session service
netbios-ssn 139/udp # NETBIOS session service
and in /etc/inetd.conf is:
netbios-ssn stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/smbd smbd
Any ideas why the smb daemon doesn't start ??
Any help on the matter will be appreciated .
