This strange behaviour happened not once but 4 times I installed and
reinstalled RH6.2. However after the last install with stock kernel, i
tried insmod ppp. It gave error. It needs slhc module to be loaded to
activate CSLIP. The I first did insmod slhc then ppp. Then further
reboots or normal boots activated both slhc and ppp. Now it is ok.
However old question remains regarding the behaviour of stock kernel.
