You had better get yourself dynamic DNS or a UUCP connection for this (UUCP can
be served over tcp-ip/ppp quite well, you know).

Any particular reason why? If it is just junk mail you are worried about, I
suggest you do all the filtering at the server level - that being the server
which handles incoming mail for you.
Saves you downloading everything before applying MTA level filtering ...
