A short fdisk howto (for installation):
Select partitioning with fdisk.
(single letters denote commands, <these statements are output>)
when you come to the fdisk prompt:
m
A list of commands possible
p
<you will get a list of all your partitions>
n
<A prompt for either primary or extended partitions>
If you don't have a primary partition for Linux, add a small partition of 30 -35 MB
here. If there already is a primary, you might wish to ignore this (I recommend not).
Then make an extended partition upto the end of the disk (again using n).
n
(make as many logical partitions as you want)
w (write to disk)
You will return to the installation process.
About the large hard disk, I have recently written how to do that, please look up the
archives.
Also, I would recommend going through the HOWTOs at
http://www.linuxdoc.org .
