        I had a similar problem. and solved it in this way.
        edit the /etc/X11/XF86Config file. go to the section describing the SVGA
Server. there must be a line reading "# vram    1025". The amount of vram may
vary. remove the comments (ie. '#'). and change the vram size to the amount
your card       has. Mine was 2Mb so I wrote 2048.
        Save the file.
        Then type startx.

Dear Friends,
        I was trying to configure X-windows in a system having the most
notorious SIS 6215c card.Everything is ok and I am able to work on
it properly but with a strange problem, my mouse cursor is appearing as a
big square block and not coming to its original pointer shape.I tried to
reconfigure mouse but no use at all.The system has ps/2 mouseman mouse.Can
anybody help me.
