Hi Sen,
Here also linux leads, of prolonging atleast some floppie's life. All track
0 bad floppies (1, 2, and 3 track fine) will work under linux. Now, coming
to reconverting file system from ext2 to fat. If you have track 0 bad, then
it is not advisable to use the floppy for DOS/Windows; still, if you want to
use it there are two ways (one is console based other is graphical).
Console based: if you have installed mtools*.rpm then you can run the
following command to format any 5 1/2 or 1.44 floppy to DOS file system even
if it has track 0 bad.
Graphical based: In KDE there is Kfloppy and in Gnome there is Gfloppy.
Beware that the floppies won't work as new floppies, it is not sure that
those floppies will work properly.
Any way happy mounting...:)
Your truly,
Rizwaan.
