Hi:

I am having trouble getting access to the internet with my D-Link 56 kbps
modem. There seems to be something wrong in the init strings. I keep getting
these messages in the /etc/log/messages file:

Oct 23 17:47:07 nizam mgetty[10662]: init chat failed, exiting...: Interrupted
system call
Oct 23 17:47:07 nizam mgetty[10662]: failed in mg_init_data, dev=ttyS1,
pid=10662

What do the above error messages mean?

This is the chat script I use:

'ABORT' 'BUSY'
'ABORT' 'ERROR'
'ABORT' 'NO CARRIER'
'ABORT' 'NO DIALTONE'
'ABORT' 'Invalid Login'
'ABORT' 'Login incorrect'
'' 'ATZ'
'OK' 'ATX1S10=150S11=40S7=60L3'
'OK' 'ATDT172222'
'CONNECT' ''
' :' 'userid'
'word : ' '\qpassword'
'' '\dppp'
'TIMEOUT' '5'
'' ''

Although once the connection is established the connection does not drop, it
takes several attempts to get connected.

Can someone help?
