Freedom to express is by default, and there is no other option.

Several thousand assemblers around - and you can specify the card you
want.
Most of the el-cheapo assemblers here use SiS video cards (6215 / 6326)
and
Yamaha sound cards. The PC Quest redhat CDs and Alsa drivers cure this
problem - see http://www.exocore.com/linux for more.
