 Are you running a pop3 server, is the pop3 line uncommented in
 /etc/inetd.conf, and is tcpwrappers blocking connections to port 110 (check
 hosts.allow and hosts.deny)
 
 Finally, have you done  

 echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

 to enable ip forwarding? If not, put that in your rc.local file.
