I tried deleting it through the browser (chennai.vsnl.com - its the same one to
which the delhi.vsnl.net.in links to. Although I deleted it several times, it
just won't go. I tried connecting to port 110 (pop3) with telnet and deleted
the mail. The response from the server says that the message is deleted but on
quitting, I got the message:
-ERR Overquota copying messages to Mailspool
Temp drop unchanged (69)
I wrote to the support address at the chennai vsnl and am hoping for the best.

Easier way is to browse your vsnl site and delete mail from web mail option.
For Delhi it is http://delhi.vsnl.net.in
