U need not miss it if U do not use kPPP. Use a very interesting
utility called 'pppstatus' - a console based uty which uses the
ncurses library. Link to:

U can keep it running stat from boot time if U put in this script
named 'pppstatus' in UR /etc/rc.boot or /etc/rc.local or wherever.
'pppstatus' would be on tty12 and watch the changes when the ppp0
device is up !!
