 That doesnt seem to be a linux related problem.  Try formating and
 reinstalling windows.  Maybe something went wrong during the install?

 For win98, I'd recommend having a /swap and /cache partition - each of about
 250 megs, then C: (programs) and D: (data).
 
 Of course, comparing the box's performance under linux and doze you are bound
 to feel it is slower) :)
