No configuration is required. You have to only check whether during startup your DAT 
drive is detected. During booting Linux automatically recognises most of the SCSI 
devices. After that it is just one command 

tar -cvf /dev/st0 if it is the first tape drive 

or

tar -cvf /dev/st1 for the second tape drive.
