If it is because of some thing u tried recently, try renaming the back up 
XF86Config.old file in /etc/X11/ to XF86Config (of course make a copy of the 
existing XF86Config in the same directory. 

If this does not work, u will have to run Xconfigurator again to set up your 
X. 

Its easier if u are using kernel 2.2.16 upwards with i810.
