 Actually, hardcore devel or not, content based filtering of email is an
 enormous overhead on production systems.  It is pretty ok for a small lan with
 a couple of hundred users, max.  Try it on a server with several thousand
 users ...  your hardware needs triple at least.

 Simple - I am not talking about IRC.  I'm talking about the messenger / IM
 clients (and file sharing apps like napster).  Take a look at the ipchains
 logs when some of your people get really active on messenger / napster.  you
 will see what I mean (especially when there's a 400 meg plus oracle database
 being uploaded to your server).

 there is no single solution.   this is just protection, sort of.

  indeed?  however, quite a few users on my lan at least have to be protected
  from themselves.  They are management / marketing guys - not 31337 k3rn3l
  h4x0rS who know to punch through firewalls.  They are more likely to become
  victims (from viruses and trojans, for example) than anything else, if let
  loose on the 'net without sufficient precautions from our side.
