If you're running the vncserver, in your home directory
there'll be a .vnc dir, under which there's a file called xstartup.
just remove the default entry fot twm and add whatever you like.
My advice would be to avoid gnome since it's quite a memory hog
and vnc acxtually sends bitmaps accross the network. use fvwm2 or xfce.
