Of course - just boot into linux and run fdisk. It has a simple menu and easy
to use commands. You can delete your windows partitions from there.

I cannot really help you about the boot disk without knowing the distribution,
for redhat, at the boot prompt, typing rescue takes you to the rescue mode.
Other listers can help you with other distributions.
