[LIH] configuring X on laptop

Hello,
    We have installed the linux ver 2.2.10 on a laptop [ACER Travel mate 345t]. But we 
have problems in X. That is we are not able to configure KDE. It is giving big 
display, [exceeding the screen limit], takes the display mode 320/200 as built in, We 
want that to be change as 800/600.

We are stuggling with this from the morning.
