Maybe SuSE does not ship a pascal compiler.

The GNU Pascal Compiler, gpc, can be downloaded from
ftp://agnes.dida.physik.uni-essen.de/gnu-pascal - you will need the gcc
sources if you download gpc sources and decide to compile yourself. You
can find binaries for linux there, pick them instead.

Long time ago, I had heard about two that run on linux - one called
yabasic and another called Bywater Basic. Search freshmeat/google. IIRC,
yabasic had some X extensions to basic - check out and post your findings
here. It also supported the #! notation for making executable scripts.

Binand

PS: As usual, yabasic stands for Yet Another Basic (Interpreter :-).
