IIRC Thaths adviced sometime back to use telinit 0(or whatever desired runlevel)
to take changes effect.

In his exact words... "Throw away the habit of booting out of windows"

I too share the opinion that unnecessary booting a unix (Note I said *Unix*) is
an insult to the machine....

Listers... correct me... If I am wrong...
