dear friends
according to the man page of man we can congiure our sys in such a way
that on pressing F1 man page of the command presently under the cursor can
be displayed i did the same but its not working
my .emacs file looks like this i have written the top line according to
man page
;; and the keypad delete the character under the cursor and to the right
;; under X, instead of the default, backspace behavior.

(global-set-key [delete] 'delete-char)

what to do now ? to make it running
