Hi ppl,
I have a problem with sendmail. We have a number of ISP's here and we have
accounts with almost all of them. We use kppp to connect to the net and
whenever we connect from any of the ISP's, the appropriate sendmail.cf is
replaced with the /etc/sendmail.cf and sendmail is restarted so that the
proper smart host is used.
As such all of the ISP's are working fine with this (vsnl, mantra, satyam)
except Reliance. The problem is that their smart host name they have given
is postmaster.onlysmart.com. nslookup on this host is working fine but when
I try to use this host in sendmail.cf as a smart host , I get the following.
==================================================
[vaibhavs@mailhub] ~$ /usr/sbin/sendmail -q -v
Running LAA03606 (sequence 1 of 1)
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>... Deferred: Name server: mail.onlysmart.com: host name
lookup failure
[vaibhavs@mailhub] ~$
===================================================
nslookup says....
==================================================
[vaibhavs@mailhub] ~$ nslookup postmaster.onlysmart.com
Server: mailhub.ebotsoft.com
Address: 192.168.0.5
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: postmaster.onlysmart.com
Address: 203.197.104.4
[vaibhavs@mailhub] ~$
==================================================
This is not the the case with other ISP's. Its a problem with Reliance ONLY.
If I disconnect and connect with VSNL or any other ISP, then the mail goes
fine with the appropriate smart host. I have even tried with the other
aliases of this mail server that are mail.onlysmart.com and
mailhost.onlysmart.com.
Any Ideas??
