Hello,

For some days now, whenever I try to boot into Linux,
the booting stops saying that the root file system is read
only. Hence I tried

LILO : linux rw

at the boot prompt. It worked, but why the problem
occured in the first place, I don't know. I had not
in any way changed the /etc/fstab file.
 Any ideas ??

Recently I got a hint. The time shown by my computer
is the same as the one at which I switched off the computer.
The time starts ticking only when I restart the computer
and stops again when I switch it off.
Is this because of a problem with the motherboard's
battery ? I believe that the life of the battery has not
'finished ' as the motherboard itself is only about
7 months old.
Also , has this got anything to do with the problem
I am facing during the boot process ?

Please help me out .

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Santanu Chatterjee.
