I managed to create a dummy installation into a service harddisk with first partition 3mb (C drive) and second partition 200 mb (d drive) then installed the ms lanmanager client to this cdrive, opted no gui in msdos.sys, edited system ini in \net to point \net instead of c:\net changed some other entries in the system.ini of lanmanager and copied all files from cdrive to a dos filesystem on linux file and created the network boot image using mknbi-dos. This image i supplied to my diskless node, which promptly boots into windows 95 console mode and maps network drives shared by samba. Then the contents of second drive was mirrored to /home/diskless1 and this was published on the lan thru samba. I configured the autoexec.bat in the netboot image to mount this \\server\diskless1 as d: and the netbootimage as c:. Then tried netbooting, which booted okay, tcp init okay, smb share mount okay. BUT win.com does not start, says "registry not loaded" and stops execution with a vfat init error. Then I searched the MS-Tech net and found about the netsetup. but this requires NetBUEI on the server, does not support NetBIOS over TCP IP so i again searched the net to find an information at the www.procom.com site which claims a port of NetBUEI to linux in Feb 2000, but could not find a download or any reference as though on any Linux sites (which i know). Any body know about NetBUEI STACK ported for linux? -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- prepare a dial in server and print in econo mode on hp 4L after reading techsupport at http://member.eth.net/73/jthoma Red Hat Linux release 6.2 (Zoot) Linux Version 2.2.16-21 Compiled #1 Mon Sep 18 16:47:57 EDT 2000 188MHz Intel Pentium MMX Processor, 32M RAM, 374.37 Bogomips Total ---------------------------------------------- An alpha version of a web based tool to manage your subscription with this mailing list is at http://lists.linux-india.org/cgi-bin/mj_wwwusr
