true, and all the more true for sendmail.cf. Its more tolerant to other
things like /etc/passwd. But one can ask linuxconf not to mess around with
things it "messes" up. For instance
linuxconf -- unsetmod mailconf
will keep it from touching sendmail.cf. This option should really be made
default.
