hi

you remember that u asked me to check if telnet worls with localhost

i.e # telnet localhost it gave n error
Unknown host

so i went to /etc/hosts file to check again & found that there was no entry for
localhost, so made the entry for it

i.e
        # joe /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

saved it & exit

then i restarted the network daemon & ran the
        #telnet localhost & it worked

then i restarted the lpd daemon it failed again,
again i restarted the lpd daemon for the 2nd time, & it was started without any error.

then i ran the printing command

# lpr test & it got printed properly.

regards
Dipankar

 hi dipankar,
1st thing there are no sirs here so take it easy :) and on the
otherhand I am a bit confused. Can you please summarize the excercise. For
instance I remember you saying that the host entries where there in
/etc/hosts....you see the confusion
