Hi,
I would like to add one more problem (bug) to this thread..
i am using RH 7.0 with XFree86 4.0 , i810 chipset. So
most of the time when i switch to
virtual console my xserver gets killed . It dosen't
happened all the time but 8 out of 10 times.
I am now just avoiding virtual console...i hope it will
be fixed soon...:)

Hi,
I've come across this issue with i810 systems. I think it
is due to some
idiosyncracy of the chipset. I don't have a solution,
just a workaround: Don't
use virtual consoles. :-)
IAC, you could probably achieve the same with an xterm
anyway.
