So much of Kernal Problems
Here is the sequence for doing it.
Make menuconfig , make dep, make bzImage,(cp bzImage to /boot from
arch/i386/boot)make modules, make modules_install,make clean . this finishes
the Kenal complilation and upgadation part.
in /etc/lilo.conf put lines like image=/boot/bzImage
,label=newkernal,root=/dev/hdx (x points to your bootable linux partition).
ps : you need to be in /usr/src/linux 2.2.16-5(or what ever the latest
version).
also you need to have appropriate system.map file in /boot (what ever lilo
points to) .
