Hi folks:

I need to back up a Compaq Presario 1260 laptop Win98 machine as Win98 was
hit by a virus. We are on a LAN with an NT as DHCP server and a Linux box
doing DNS. The files are too large in size and number to backup using
floppies. Can I boot off a floppy using a Linux boot disk, connect to the
LAN, mount the 4 GB Win 98 HDD and backup the files on to the Linux box?

The boot disk I created using RH6.2 mkbootdisk gives an error after booting
with something like "unable to mount fs". This disk does not have a fstab
file in the /etc directory.

As I am not the kind who has kernels for breakfast, a little hand holding
besides pointing to docs would be of great help.

thanks in advance

Christopher Vasanth
