info make should be better. FSF software has more, well, information,
in info pages. They use man pages just to list all command line options,
and info pages for the inside stuff.

lol - make is like a batch file :-) You in England by any chance?

make is not used just for software compilation. I had used make to run
latex on my project report, I still use make to backup some of my
important configuration files, sendmail uses make to generate the db
files for its configuration files...

make can be used wherever one file depends on another, and modifications
to the second has to be incorporated to the first in a painless way.
