Hi,
GtkYahoo is an (open-source) Yahoo messenger clone for linux (see
http://gtkyahoo.unixtools.org). It uses Yahoo's servers so all users of Yahoo
messenger are accepted by it. Did you try to install it from the source code?? To
install from source, these are the (generic) steps...
1. gunzip source_tarball.tar.gz
2. tar -xvf source_tarball.tar
3. cd source_tarball_dir
4. ./configure
5. make (or gmake)
6. su
7. make install (or gmake install)
But GtkYahoo also has RPMs available on their site so you can install these directly.
To run gtkyahoo, you need a directory .gtkyahoo in your home directory. This directory
will contain one file, gtkyahoorc, which is of the format shown below.

A GtkYahoo configuration file ($HOME/.gtkyahoo/gtkyahoorc)

# GTKYahoo Configuration File
#
# Global Options
# show-online-only is ignore for now
#

Global
        show-online-only no
End-Global

# Per-Config Options
# Config name is ignored for now
# Multiple users can be defined, the last one is taken for now.

Config "config name"
        UserID "your_username"
        Password "your_password"
End-Config
