Hey YMF XG is well supported. Please recompile your kernel, and check for 
sound search for SB16, type of support and correctly find the IRQ of your 
sound card and insert it there and recompile your kernel and enjoy. Oh! if 
yours is a redhat installation, run the utility sndconfig that should help. 
Type isapnpdump to give you details about your s/c on linux.
