I have got HP9100 CD-RW which works quite well under Linux. No need of any drivers 
under Linux for 
CD-RW / CD-ROM's for that matter.

It is 32xread / 4x Re-Write / 8x CD-R  with 4MB buffer.

I had to spend 124 pounds for it. It was brought by one of our relatives from London.
No idea about its price in India. I think is around 14000/- to 15000/- check out.
