do as follows (from root):
   #mkdir -p /usr/X11R6/lib/fonts/tamil
   #<unzip all all bdf files in this dir>
   #xset fp+ /usr/X11R6/lib/fonts/tamil
   #xlsfonts

ps. u made mistake in spelling Saugata's name. It should be Saugata
