I have installed PCQ KDE2 on a system working with gdm and gnome. I made .xinitrc file as said. When I did reboot and logged, I didn't get KDE from gdm. Then I entered KDE in /etc/sysconfig/desktop. Then when I did reboot, I got the msg. INIT: Id "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes then I had to press ctrl+c to get back to console. kdm could not be started. However from console with .xinitrc I could start kde2. As kdm could not be started and m/c hangs, I had to revert to gdm. From gdm kde2 is not started. Only gnome is started. Further to my surprise one more thing happened. With switchdesk i got the option of kde before with old kde. Now i don't get this option.
